In the Wednesday night Grammar class, we dissected Psalm 120 for the whole hour.  This is something we have not done, and encouraging to see their facial expressions try to grasp the English and message.  They really were entertained at the end of class as I read Psalm 120 in Italian to them.  I have been very impressed with how many Italians can grasp the English language quicker than Americans grasping the Italian language.

Psalm 120
"¹ I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.² Save me, LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.³ What will he do to you, and what more besides, you deceitful tongue? ⁴ He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush.⁵ Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek, that I live among the tents of Kedar! ⁶ Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. ⁷ I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war"

A very short Chapter, but  creates questions about myself on how rewarding is lying, cursing, gossiping, and hurting others.  If your goals are Earthly rewards, then I say it is worth it.  There are ways to succeed on Earth by the noble path, but it is rarely seen today.  God does not want or need Earthly goals.  He despises those goals.  It has no benefit on His Kingdom and these Earthly rewards will vanish, when it is your time to go.  If your goals are set for the path to Heaven, then lying and being deceitful is not rewarding.  Being stabbed and burned does not seem pleasing.  The passage says this is the punishment, but is not the path to Hell full of pain forever.  God calls for righteousness and He will reward you abundantly.  He does not want you to suffer forever, but say to you, "Welcome Home Good and Faithful Servant."
