57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”
58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
59 He said to another man, “Follow me.”
But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”
62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

We had a Bible study tonight on many different verses that all tie together.  This one passage stood out at the end of the study.  The different passages leading up to this one was about love, whose fit for the kingdom, and preparation.  All the verses read tie together on whose fit for the Kingdom of God.  Luke 9:57-62 says there are no excuses, God must be first.  The first man says he will follow, but does his words portray his actions.  A man can say whatever he wants, but if he does not act on those sayings, then it becomes meaningless.  The second and third man give excuses to Jesus.  Jesus did not accept excuses.  Jesus is telling us what actions fit and what actions do not fit for the Kingdom of God.  When it is time to answer God, do you think God will accept an excuse?
