Tuesday Feb 14th

I was told by my student, "Depending on the structure and rules of the local catholic church, they dictate the number of people who are apart of the catholic church by their leadership.  This is why we do not go to church, because they use the money and time to benefit themselves, not others."  This tells me there are thousands of people who believe in God and Jesus Christ, but do nothing to practice their beliefs.  This lack of worship depends on the morality and leadership of the church.  The church they attended, catholic or not, have elderly leadership geared toward their own interests and not Godly things.  This is more true in Italy, because the lack of variety of churches.  If a church has a negative impact in the community, it affects the community's viewpoint on religion.  It is also true in America, because of the leadership of the church.  These individuals are ones we should talk to and encourage daily.  This support will give them strength and confidence to be able to carry out their religious lives, instead of their beliefs fading away.  Never forget to encourage each other as well. It is helpful to have a structure of friends to keep you strengthened in your efforts.

2 Corinthians 13:11, "Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you."
