³ Not only so, but we^[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; ⁴ perseverance, character; and character, hope. ⁵ And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5: 3-5

Glorify in our sufferings.  This is hard to do.  Initially, when bad goes worse, or in end of these suffering moments.  The ability to glorify God when life gives you grief.  Initially, I do not think about this, because my thought is hardships will turn around into good times.  It takes me some realization of these hardships that I start asking for help from God.  With this passage, I see why we would give glory, because we have hope in God to bring us the right opportunities.  Without a sense of hope, you have no reference to what suffering is.  You will take the easy road to avoid hardships.  With hope in God, you can overcome sufferings.
