“Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
When I was kid, I was taught an easy way to remember the Greatest Commandment:
Jesus
Others
Yourself
Above all, Love God/Jesus, then others and yourself, this will give you JOY. To this day, I still remember this acronym that is sometimes difficult to do, especially loving others. We have the order of loving backwards or scrambled. Sometimes we portray YJO or other times it is JYO. On occasion, we mystify ourselves by doing Love for others giving us the right order OY, yet we forget where Love comes from and why we Love. Consequently, we show OYJ, which is not Love only an act of kindness. Without God or Jesus as the source of Love, we are only showing acts of kindness to others. To have JOY, we must love God/Jesus the most in order to be, do, and reflect Love.
